Nightclubs, bars and parties

These are photos of nightclub crowds I’ve played for from Lafayette to Kinder, all the way over in New Orleans. There are shots here from Graham Central Station, The Retro Club, Slim’s in Kinder, Cajun Swamp in Ville Platte and many more. Most of the time but not always, I bring my CD mixer and plug into the house system and jam away.

The Retro

The Retro Club on Vermilion St. just off Jefferson St. in downtown Lafayette was the home for a while of our Saturday night mix show, "The Beat." Techno, hip-hop and breakbeat music had the crowd rockin' on the second floor til 2am.

Lucy's in New Orleans

Lucy's Retired Surfer's Bar & Restaurant at 701 Tchoupitoulas in New Orleans' Warehouse District is my all-time favorite place to hang. I've been going there for quite a while. Friday afternoons after work, the crowd pours in to Lucy's and as it gets dark, out onto the street. The food is great, the drinks are awesome and the music and atmosphere is fun. I actually asked the owner if I could bring my setup and DJ, for free! That night they told me was one of their biggest nights ever. They had me scheduled from 6pm-10pm and I ended up playing until 1:00am free! It was a blast. At one time I had the crowd dancing to the "Theme From Shaft!" I've played there a few times and even did a private party one time on a Sunday evening.

CajunSwamp Ville

Though no longer open (I heard it's now a church!), the Cajun Swamp was a fun little country bar on Hwy. 190 in Ville Platte, La. The crowd was always fun and always arrived early. We were rockin' by 9:30 some nights. It was sort of like Slim's in Kinder. A wide variety of music kept everyone from 18-80 partyin' til closing time.

Private Party at Chris'

The employees of Lafayette Motors threw a going away party for one of their employees that was moving to Houston and the entire night was a blast. Chris' downtown is a great place to eat, drink and from time to time hear live music.
